Are you passionate about food or packaging quality and ready to make an impact in our Technical team? We’re looking for a Food Technologist (Ingredients) or a Packaging Technologist (Packaging) to join our Supplier Approval team in Aberlour. If you bring expertise in both, even better!
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in ensuring the highest standards across our ingredients and packaging, working with suppliers, and collaborating closely with our internal teams.
This is a full time, permanent role. 38 hours per week (8am–4:30pm Mon - Th / 8am–2:30pm Fri), 5 days in the office would be preferable however hybrid would be considered
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Depending on your background, you’ll focus on ingredients or packaging – or both.
As a Food Technologist, you’ll:
- Approve and monitor ingredient suppliers, ensuring compliance with food safety standards.
- Review supplier GFSI accreditation and verify ingredient specifications.
- Liaise with labs, conduct traceability exercises, and take action on food safety alerts.
- Support NPD approvals and provide technical expertise to the Supplier Quality Manager.
- Stay ahead of developments in food legislation, labelling, and certification standards.
As a Packaging Technologist, you’ll:
- Approve and monitor packaging suppliers and specifications to meet quality standards.
- Review GFSI accreditation and provide input into NPD/EPD packaging sourcing.
- Liaise with labs and collaborate with procurement on supplier approvals.
- Keep up to date with global packaging legislation, retailer codes of practice, and certification standards.
What we're looking for:
- A degree or diploma in Food Science or Packaging Technology (or a related field).
- Ideally 3–5 years’ experience, though we’re open to those earlier in their career who can demonstrate passion and capability.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with suppliers and colleagues.
- Excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Knowledge of food/packaging legislation, labelling requirements, and certification standards (BRC, FSSC22000) is an advantage.
